Staff
- The Purple People
Nipperbout’s purple people are lively, dedicated
and highly professional. The transient nature of our service
demands that our staff be confident, and enthusiastic.
They must have excellent communication skills and the
ability to build good relationships both with children
and their team members quickly.
The majority of our staff hold a level
3 childcare qualification, some are teachers, some are
play workers, some also have theatrical experience. We
try to ensure that each team has at least one entertainer/
actor and at least one male member of staff.
Staff skills include; first aid, sign
language, special needs training, European and Asian languages,
magic acts, face painting, circus skills, counselling
skills.
Selection
Process Nipperbout staff undergo a revealing telephone
interview. Subsequent to this, references, qualifications
and Criminal Records Bureau checks are viewed. A further
interview takes place; staff undergo an induction and
are assessed within a work environment. Further training
is given as they gain more experience. Staff who demonstrate
high standards and good skills are used more frequently
until they become part of the Core Team.
Nipperbout Team Leaders have all completed
the ‘Suitable Person Interview’ with Ofsted
and undergo a Team Leader training day. Further training
in required skills are then given to ensure they have
the necessary skills for a key role in the team. Briefings
and feedback sessions are held frequently to promote healthy
levels of communication throughout the company.
Nipperbout staff contribute to the ever
evolving and improving quality of our services. We are
proud that most of our core team continue to work for
us for many years. Children who came to the crèches
in the early days have grown up and returned to work for
the company.
Nipperbout does have a ‘whistle
blowing’ policy but it is within the company culture
to encourage respectful communications between the team,
management, parents and children. This has enabled the
service and individuals within our company to grow, sharing
the same focus of a quality service.
Nipperbout are an equal opportunities
employer and our childcare philosophy promotes acceptance,
tolerance and celebration of all cultures familiar to
British society. This is reflected in the choice of equipment
and the activities employed.
